Why Embracing Change & Transition Enhances Your Mental Health

The natural world teaches us that nothing ever stands still, that nothing ever maintains its current state, identity or shape for very long.

When we take the time to reflect upon the natural environment, we begin to observe a complex yet very beautiful world cycling through patterns, phases and through stages of transition.

Humans transition through psychological and physical states of transformation throughout our lives.

Transformation is a natural part of life, and an important component of human evolution. It is something that is unavoidable, inevitable and yet very manageable.

What if I told you that life is very much like the seasons. We all go through our summers, autumns, winters and springs.

“ Transition periods are often great times to look at what you have, determine what you no longer need, and let go of the clutter. “

The Four Seasons of Transformation

Autumn : A season for Transitions & Change - September to November

Winter : A season for Reflections & Planning - December to February

Spring : A season for Opportunities & Anticipation - March to May

Summer : A season for Rewards & Fulfilment - June to August

Each of these seasons of life bring with them valuable lessons that we can use to help us move forward in a better way.

Instead of resisting them, we can learn to embrace them and then use the seasons of life to help us live life in more optimal ways. These natural cycles of life are beneficial for our personal growth and psychological evolution.

Seasons of the year are marked by changes in weather, ecology, amount of daylight and are temporary in nature, just as the seasons of life are temporary on a psychological level.

Seasons Are Psychologically Beneficial

The seasons of life are there to teach us lessons about ourselves, others and about life. They are there to help us grow emotionally, physically and socially.

And they are there to enliven our spirit and to strengthen our emotional resilience in the face of adversity and opportunity.

These periods of life shape our character, and paint the canvas of the life we are yet to experience. Moreover, these times help us evolve as human beings.

In the end, life is about transition, about change and most importantly about transformation.

Every experience - no matter how we perceive it - helps us grow and develop psychologically on many levels of awareness, which consequently paves the way for ever richer experiences that will enable us to overcome the obstacles and challenges that life inevitably throws our way.
